Privacy Policy
VAT-Chantha Law Office respects the privacy of everyone who visits this website, books a consultation, or purchases our publications and courses. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else is involved, and the choices you have.
Our confidentiality commitment
As practising attorneys admitted to the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia, we are bound by professional secrecy. What you tell us about your legal matter is treated as confidential and is never sold, rented, or shared for marketing. Access is limited to the attorney and staff working on your matter. We disclose information only on your instruction, or where a court order or Cambodian law requires it — and no further than the law requires.
3. What we collect
We ask only for what a given service needs to work:
- Account details — your name, email address and phone number, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google; we never receive your Google password. One-time verification codes are stored briefly and expire on their own.
- Consultation bookings — your name, phone number, optional email address, the province and service you select, and any notes you choose to write about your matter.
- Purchases — what you bought, the amount, the currency, the payment status and a payment reference. Card and bank details are entered on ABA PayWay's own secure page and are never seen or stored by us.
- Service records — which lessons you have completed and which publications you have access to, so your progress and purchases persist across devices.
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any third-party tracking. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information to anyone.
1. Who we are
VAT-Chantha Law Office is a law office registered with the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia. We decide how and why personal information submitted through this website is handled.
If you have any question about this policy or about information we hold, the contact details at the end of this page reach us directly.
2. When this policy applies
This policy covers information collected through the website: creating an account, booking a consultation, buying an e-book, journal or course, and using the reader and video player. Advice given to you as a client is additionally governed by our professional obligations and by any engagement letter between us, which take precedence where they are stricter.
4. Why we use it
We use your information to provide the service you asked for: to create and secure your account, to arrange and confirm consultations, to process payments and grant access to what you bought, and to answer you when you get in touch.
We also use it to keep the service safe — verifying phone numbers and email addresses, limiting repeated sign-in attempts, and detecting abuse — and to meet record-keeping duties that apply to a law office. We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you.
5. Payment information
Payments are processed by ABA Bank through ABA PayWay. Card numbers, PINs and bank credentials are entered on their systems, not ours; we receive only confirmation of whether a payment succeeded, together with the amount and a reference.
This means a breach of our systems cannot expose your card details, because we never hold them.
6. How long we keep it
Account and purchase records are kept while your account is open, and afterwards only for as long as we must retain them for accounting, tax and professional obligations under Cambodian law.
Verification codes expire within minutes. Consultation records are kept in line with our professional duty to maintain a file. You can ask us to delete your account at any time, and we will do so except where the law requires a record to be preserved.
7. How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored using one-way hashing and can never be read back, and purchased documents and course videos are delivered through short-lived signed links rather than public addresses, so a copied link does not become permanent access.
Administrative access is restricted to authorised staff. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach ever affects your information we will tell you and the relevant authority as promptly as we can.
8. Your rights and choices
You can review and update your profile at any time from your account, and you may ask us for a copy of the information we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.
You may also withdraw consent to marketing messages at any time — this never affects legal services you have already engaged us for. Write to us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
9. Children
This website is intended for adults seeking legal services. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
10. Changes and how to contact us
If we change this policy we will update this page, and material changes will be highlighted here. For any question about your privacy, or to exercise any of the rights above, contact us:
